Tales from Space: About a Blob
- 2011
- Released
- DrinkBox Studios

A physics-based puzzle platformer for PS3 following an interstellar blob captured by an evil scientist on an industrialised Earth-like planet. Players grow the blob by absorbing objects across hand-crafted side-scrolling levels, escaping captivity, rescuing fellow blobs, and cleaning up the planet along the way. The game had a strong artistic identity and a distinct environmental narrative that set it apart from conventional platformers of the era.
Challenge
Author hand-crafted side-scrolling levels for a physics-based puzzle platformer where the player blob is constantly growing and absorbing objects — keeping pacing, layout, and puzzle structure tight across an industrialised, narrative-rich game world.
Solution
Worked as a level designer alongside two other level designers and a lead developer: led the design of the opening level (including layout, pacing, and puzzle structure), designed the farmhouse environment and puzzles distributed throughout the game, and contributed to blockout, iteration, and scripting across multiple levels.
Outcome
Shipped on PlayStation 3 as DrinkBox Studios' physics-based puzzle platformer, the first in the Tales from Space series.
