VR Experience
Small Wonders: The VR Experience
- 2017
- Released
- Canadian Film Centre

A virtual reality experience that allowed users to explore intricate wood carvings — originally small enough to fit on a coin — within a large-scale immersive environment. The carvings were captured using micro-computed tomography and enlarged to several metres in height, giving users the ability to walk around them, study their fine details, and appreciate their craftsmanship in a way that would be impossible at their original size.
- Featured at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto International Film Festival, and the Royal Ontario Museum
Challenge
Translate fragile, coin-sized devotional wood carvings into an immersive VR exhibit at exhibition fidelity — preserving every fine detail captured by micro-CT scanning while making the experience intuitive and accessible for general museum audiences.
Solution
Took the project from prototype to final exhibition-ready product as Lead Programmer and UI Scripter, refining UI interactions, broadening multi-platform support, and collaborating with the UX designer to evolve the interaction flow into a polished VR experience.
Outcome
Featured at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto International Film Festival, and the Royal Ontario Museum as part of major cultural-heritage exhibitions of the carvings.
