VR Training
King Air Flight Deck Simulator
- Released
- Seneca Polytechnic

An XR training application that provides aviation students with a virtual Beechcraft King Air flight deck, bridging the gap between basic classroom instruction and advanced simulators. Traditionally, students would learn using printed diagrams, but now they interact with a detailed 3D cockpit. While it's not a full flight simulator, it allows students to familiarise themselves with controls and run through realistic scenarios. Instructors can guide students in a fully interactive environment, making the leap from textbooks to cockpit operations more engaging and practical.
- Successfully deployed within Seneca's Honours Bachelor of Aviation Technology program
- Replaces static diagram-based instruction with a more immersive cockpit learning tool
Challenge
Bridge the gap between basic classroom instruction with printed diagrams and full advanced flight simulators. Students needed an interactive, in-between learning tool to familiarise themselves with the Beechcraft King Air cockpit before stepping into expensive full simulators.
Solution
Built an interactive 3D Beechcraft King Air flight deck in Unreal Engine for Meta Quest VR and Windows PC, supporting cockpit familiarisation and scenario walkthroughs without the complexity of a full flight simulator. Instructor-led sessions allow live coaching in a shared interactive environment.
Outcome
Successfully deployed within Seneca's Honours Bachelor of Aviation Technology program. Replaces static diagram-based instruction with a more immersive cockpit learning tool, easing students' transition from textbooks to real cockpit operations.
