An XR training application that supports CFAA certification by letting students work with fire alarm control panels such as Mircom, Simplex, Protectowire, and Autocall. Across nine labs, students test alarms, detectors, and manual stations, troubleshooting faults step-by-step. Labs cover tasks from multimeter readings to testing smoke detection, signal devices, and emergency voice systems. Whether in class or remote, students complete companion worksheets. Industry partners recognize this certification, ensuring practical skills in both physical and virtual environments.

Challenge
Translate a nine-lab CFAA curriculum and four real fire alarm panel families (Mircom, Simplex, Protectowire, Autocall) into a virtual environment that students could use in class or remotely while preserving the procedural rigour of physical lab delivery.
Solution
Built virtual lab environments with interactive control panels, tool-based workflows, and step-by-step fault troubleshooting in Unreal Engine for Meta Quest and Windows PC. Extended the core learning framework to support nine labs, scene logic, UI systems, and inspection modes, with companion worksheets bridging in-class and remote delivery.
Outcome
Deployed as a virtual companion to Seneca's physical Fire Alarm Technician program, supporting flexible in-class and remote delivery and aligning with the Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification pathway recognised by industry partners.
